We are pleased to announce that Georgia New Guard is officially endorsing Jason Dozier for Atlanta City Council District 4. He outworked all other candidates in the general election. One thing we noticed over the last few months when we canvassed neighborhoods on our #80Streets campaign is that Jason was always out too! At its core, public service is about the people, and Jason engaged them in a thoughtful manner, along with working hard to earn every vote as all good candidates should.
One aspect of his candidacy that we are very impressed with is his plan to address the persistent vacant home and blight issues in the district through innovative policy solutions. Current Councilmember Cleta Winslow has not even attended one Code Enforcement Commission meeting in close to 4 years, and has failed to address the issue. It is time that we have a representative that is willing to lead on blight reduction, and work successfully to create a cleaner Atlanta that provides affordable housing options for all.
Jason is a homeowner in Mechanicsville, and worked very closely with community groups to draft the Turner Field Benefits Coalition Agreement proposal. His leadership on this very important issue was instrumental in ensuring that community concerns were at the forefront before the sale of Turner Field was finalized.
He is the man for the job in District 4. Jason will tackle the vacant home problem in District 4, fight hard for more affordable housing, and increase the transparency from public officials to put citizens first in the decision making process.
Jason joins our other endorsed candidates (Felicia Moore, Dustin Hillis) who are battling in a runoff election. We are raising money for all of them, in hopes of running a significant paid Facebook advertising campaign to target voters as we get closer to Election Day.
